The renovated Powell Room
This past June, the Trustees using the monies from the Thomas S. Raynor Bequest began the work of renovating the Powell Room.  Like many other parts of our church's facilities, the Powell Room had not been renovated since the 1950's.  It was time to redo the ceiling tiles, the lighting, and the floor tiles.  Ceiling and floor tile samples were presented for consensus, selected, purchased, delivered and staged for the mighty work.  After seeking and receiving various estimates, the firm of Full House Design was selected to do both the ceiling and the floor tile installations.

The work of removing the floor tiles fell to the extremely hard work of Richard Harpell, Daniel Segredo, and Gus Segredo.  It was decided that the wooden partitions that used to separate the Room into two would also be removed.  This work was performed by Arthur Andrews, Richard Harpell, and Mark Sullivan who cut the 13 foot series of doors into manageable pieces so that they could be taken upstairs to the awaiting dumpster.

Our new Powell Room is lit by (21) 2x2 LED Flat Panels which provide more than the equivalent of the prior lighting at less than half the cost.  We still have to add two new windows, as well as, deal with solving the heating systems for this room.  But we are sure that once resolved, this room will be very popular for not only church events, but also with members of our general community who will use it for family events, birthdays, and even wedding receptions.
