Our Pastor

Pastor Edward J. Norman and his spouse Daryl

Greetings to you in the name of the risen Lord, Jesus Christ, who promised to never leave us alone.

I am delighted to greet you in this newsletter and make known how honored I am to be your Pastor.  God has blessed me and Daryl tremendously by bringing us to a loving, welcoming congregation.  You have made us feel as if we've been part of our lives for many years.  May God cause your love and graciousness to abound.

I am grateful to know that you are a people who love your Church and display a willingness to work for the good of your Church.  I see how some of your labor with your hands or exercise your gifts in other ways.  You support the fundraising efforts of Freeport UMC; I can feel your energy.

Nehemiah 4:6 “so built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof; for the people had a mind to work”.  Nehemiah was a determined leader, with a determined following.  They succeeded in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem in a short period of time.  It is my hope that we are determined people at Freeport UMC.  My desire is to see us become laser focused on fulfilling certain goals, especially that of paying our Conference apportionment 100% and increasing our Church membership.  My vision is to guide Freeport UMC towards, becoming a leading congregation in our Long Island East District.

As our partnership in ministry grows, I challenge us to examine ourselves that we may determine our openness to change.  The more willing we are to accept new ideas and try doing new things, the easier it will be for the Holy Spirit of God to direct us.  I am confident that God is preparing us for new and exciting things.

Again,  I express my appreciation to the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Trustees, and Parsonage Property Committee members for your help to Daryl and I in transitioning to your beautiful parsonage.  Your hospitality has made us wish we had discovered Freeport many years ago.

May the blessings of God continue to be showered down upon you always.

Your Pastor and Friend,

Edward Norman
